The impressive Eltz Castle is a medieval castle, originally constructed in the 11th century. Nestled in the hills above the Moselle River, the castle is surrounded by lush forest. Every year over 300,000 visitors come to see the castle, many of whom are drawn to scenic hiking trails surrounding the castle grounds. 34 generations of the Eltz family have lived among the castle’s 120 rooms over the past 850 years and it is still owned by a branch of the same family.
“I have never been to Eltz Castle. I chose to paint this castle because I think it is really beautiful, especially in the autumn. I want to visit but because of the pandemic, it is impossible right now, so I decided to paint every place I want to visit in the future. During the lockdown, I have been painting a lot of beautiful places to escape to mentally.”
