Myrtos Beach is a popular location on every traveller’s map and is constantly ranked among the best beaches in Greece and the world itself. It is located on the northwestern part of the Ionian archipelago’s Kefalonia island, around 30 km from its capital Argostoli.
Why is Myrtos so popular?
The reason why this beach creates such a huge buzz is attributed to its exaggerated setting. Set between the feet of two towering mountains, Kalon Oros and Agios Dynati, it forms a horseshoe bay and has a beautiful white pebbled shore. The rugged limestone cliffs are topped with dense greenery and gradually slope down to sea level. The waters here are crystal clear in varying shades of blue, and perfect for underwater exploration. There is a small bar on the beach but you will have to go to the nearby village, Divarata for proper dining options. So make sure you bring food and water along, especially if you are planning to stay for long.

You can arrive directly at the beach by water from neighbouring islands and even some places from the mainland, including Athens. If you are already on Kefalonia island, you can get to the beach from the village of Divarata by public buses or taxis.
