St Kitts and Nevis is located in the West Indies and comprises two islands. The country is defined by its beaches and mountains, a friendly soca beat and cricket crazy population. The dual-island nation is also home to various ruins of mills and estates and offers a good range of outdoor activities including trekking and water sports.

The bigger St Kitts island houses the country’s capital Basseterre. The bustling Independence Square in the heart of the city and the National Museum are popular attractions.

In the outskirts of the city, you will find the Frigate Bay, a lively beach area with great seafood restaurants and bars. In the northwestern part of the island lies the 1,156m high volcanic Mt Liamuiga. If you are up for a challenge, you can opt for the strenuous hike to the top of the mountain. In the western part of St Kitts, stands the Brimstone Hill Fortress,  a well-preserved UNESCO world heritage site that was turned into a national park in 1987. It was designed by the British to protect the island from foreign, especially French, attacks and today you can visit the fortifications to enjoy panoramic views of the surroundings.

The smaller Nevis Island’s claim to fame is its fine beaches and the 985m high volcanic Nevis Peak, popular for hiking. Pinney’s Beach, with its sandy palm-lined shores and Oualie Beach with world-class surfing conditions are the most famous beaches on the island. Charlestown is the capital of the island and is known for its hot springs and the Museum of Nevis History.

Despite being the smallest nation in the Americas, the islands of St Kitts and Nevis offer a delightful experience for its visitors.

Frigate Bay is a lively beach area with great restaurants and bars.
